Proper Partying:

Helpful Halloween Office Party Tips

Fall is officially here and many, like me, are planning our Halloween celebrations for the next few weeks. That’s why today, I thought that we’d talk about helpful Halloween office party tips. With a few weeks left before Halloween, these tips below will give you plenty of time to be prepared.

Mind the Dress Code

Whether your workplace is kid-friendly or primarily adults, it’s good to keep in mind that appropriate attire is still a must when dressing up for any Halloween-related event at work. This means, adhering to your workplace’s dress code. Halloween should not viewed as an excuse to break every rule held within the dress code. One can still have fun and adhere to the rules.

Don’t Be Offensive

Speaking of costumes, it’s crucial to think about whether or not your costume is offensive or a hot-button issue. If you find yourself muttering the phrase, “Too soon,” you costume could very well be offensive. This being an election year, political costumes are all the rage. Some may consider them funny, but keep in mind that a few may take offense to your Hillary or Donald costume.

You’re Still Working

Sure, I sound like a fuddy-duddy when I say to remember that you are still working, but it’s true! It is fun to break out of the norm but, at the end of the day, you need to make sure the important tasks are finished. Sure, some bosses or clients may cut you a break considering the circumstances, but don’t assume that all will feel the same way if you drop the ball. Have fun, but get your work done.

Be Respectful of Others

For some, Halloween is just not their bag – and that’s ok. If some of your fellow coworkers are not into dressing up or participating, don’t make them. Don’t force anyone to do anything they’re uncomfortable with. They’ll be respectful of your wishes to let loose if you are respectful of their desire not to.

Have Fun

Finally, have fun! This is a chance to get to be creative with your office mates. Who knows what good ideas will be sparked over a shared cup of punch while dressed in your favorite Mummy costume?!
